audiotrium

initiated in november 2007, audiotrium is a series of monthly events of "concentrated listening" on sound works, taking place in the theatre-room of "teatr weimar". once each month, either one or several sound works from one artist or works from different artists grouped together under a theme is presented to the audience, and as opposed to a concert or performance setting, where the audience watch the artist(s) on stage as much as they are listening to the actual sounds, in "audiotrium" there is only sound. set in a theatre context, the aim with the series is to try to connect the worlds of theatre and sound art by focusing on presenting works from the more "experimental" sides of audio and radio drama, as well as works from the art and music context which, in one way or another, are incorporating voice and/or text. thereby we wish to connect different genres of artistic practice focusing on works with a common denominator in voice and/or text, and hope to thus further connecting above mentioned artistic fields as well as the fields of radio and literature, all of which are all to often considered to be separated. audiotrium is curated by henning lundkvist.
